Opera Colorado presents the Rocky Mountain Regional Premiere of Daniel Catán’s Florencia en elAmazonas
Performances March 24, 27, 30 at 7:30 pm; April 1 at 2:00 pm
Ellie Caulkins Opera House
Florencia en el Amazonas is an homage to the magic realism of Colombian author Gabriel Garcia Marquez and his classic novel, Love in the Time of Cholera. Many critics have compared Catán’s music to the work of the great Italian opera composers such as Puccini while acknowledging the influence of Latin American rhythms on the score. The music is lush and romantic as it captures the raw emotions and mysterious character of the story. Free pre-opera talks before every performance of the opera.
Tickets start at $20 | 800.982.ARTS or online at OperaColorado.org.
