Students are able to experience opera by visiting the Ellie Caulkins Opera House in one of our three field trip programs. These programs are sure to enrich any curriculum, but are only offered on certain dates and sell out fast.

Backstage Workshops
Grade Level: PreK – 12th grade
We invite you to bring your students to the Ellie Caulkins Opera House to experience the backstage magic for themselves. Students explore the world backstage at hands-on stations that provide experiential learning opportunities on stagecraft, lighting design, costume construction, fight choreography, and more. It’s a field trip unlike any other and an exciting way for students to explore new career directions.
Student Matinee
Grade Level: K - 12th grade
Opera Colorado’s Young Artists perform in a special daytime version of Charles Gounod’s Romeo and Juliet. The opera closely follows Shakespeare’s romantic story of star-crossed lovers cut short by a deadly feud. We set the scene in the lush setting of 16th century Italy for this classic tale, perhaps the world’s most popular love story.
Student Dress Rehearsals
Grade Level: 6th grade – college
Get a sneak preview of Opera Colorado’s operas with a special evening dress rehearsal presentation of Romeo and Juliet and Don Giovanni.
