The Three Tenors and Beyond: Pavarotti, Domingo and Carreras
The three biggest names in opera, Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo and José Carreras have performed everywhere from the The Met to Dodger Stadium. How did each of them rise to such significant stardom and how did they come to work together? What are the critical, even sometimes controversial, opinions of their work? What impact have they had on the next generation of tenors? Join classical music appreciation instructor and former KVOD radio announcer/producer Betsy Schwarm to survey the careers of The Three Tenors. Supporting music and video includes excerpts from their very first concert together and insights into their personal and professional lives. Discuss their impact on classical music and other genres beyond the operatic stage and how they’ve influenced other vocalists—think Andrea Bocelli, for one. Also get to know the next generation of gifted tenors whose fame rose on their tuxedo tails as well as those who might be considered merely imitators. Experience some of the most beloved tenor music in all of opera when you attend Opera Colorado’s production of La Bohème. Performance ticket included. 10% discount to OC subscribers.
