Preview The Pearl Fishers with Alliance Française
French opera is one of Europe’s most important operatic traditions, containing works by some of the world’s most beloved composers, including Georges Bizet. While many opera lovers may be familiar with Bizet’s most famous work, Carmen, relatively few people have had the chance to enjoy his earlier work The Pearl Fishers (Les Pêcheurs de Perles). Opera Colorado will produce the Rocky Mountain regional premiere of the little-known opera at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House in February. Preview the performance with Opera Colorado General Director Greg Carpenter. Learn what makes French opera distinct from other traditions, including how Louis XIV has had a lasting impact on performances today. Members of the Opera Colorado Outreach Ensemble will perform selections from the opera. Limited seating available.
When – Thursday, January 22nd at 6pm
Where – Alliance Française Gallery, 571 Galapago Street
Cost - $8 members, $10 non-members. Free for high school and university students.
This presentation is in English.
