Taught by various guest artists, Opera Colorado brings interactive workshops right to your school! These fun and informative workshops integrate opera and performance concepts into classroom lessons. In-School Workshops can be applied to a variety of areas, including:
Performing Arts. Introduce your students to the allure of the stage and enhance the curriculum with a workshop on acting, movement, stage combat, costumes, makeup, poetry performance and other skills related to the performing arts.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills. Opera workshops are a great way to introduce concepts to your students such as team building, group cooperation, and professionalism in fun and inventive ways.
Arts and Humanities. Many of the stories found in opera have their roots in literature or history. Whether you're reading the works of Shakespeare or studying the Italian Renaissance, In-School Workshops provide a perfect opportunity to explore these subjects from a different point of view.
Math and Science. Opera workshops can easily be adapted to math and science. From workshops that use math to sell tickets to the chemistry of makeup to the physics of set design, the concepts in your curriculum can be taught using real-world applications.
