How often do you have networking luncheons and events?
We have networking luncheons before each production in the Opera Colorado season - usually the Wednesday before opening night. We meet at the Chambers Grant Salon in the Ellie Caulkins Opera House with incredible food prepared by Kevin Taylor’s at the Opera House. We also like to offer brief backstage tours after the luncheon so our members and guests can get a “behind-the-scenes” look at the upcoming production. Other events that happen throughout the year may take place at the Opera House or at another Denver venue.
What happens at luncheons?
Luncheon check-in begins at noon, when you’ll pick up your nametag and drop your business card into the fishbowl for a door prize or two (usually opera tickets!). From noon to 12:20 is mingling and getting to know people. At 12:20 everyone is seated and the luncheon program begins. If the luncheon is sponsored, the sponsor speaks for 3-5 minutes. Then Greg Carpenter, General Director of Opera Colorado, introduces the speaker. We like to highlight professional women working in opera, whether they are onstage in the lead role or working behind the scenes in makeup and costumes or technical production. We close with the opportunity for members and guests to ask questions of the speaker (and other Opera Colorado staff, if desired), and a brief backstage tours for those who would like to go behind the scenes. The presentation ends at 1:00 pm, but we typically have members and guests touring and asking questions as late as 1:30 p.m.
How much do the luncheons cost?
The price for luncheons is $25 for members and $35 for non-members, which includes a light lunch (beverage, entrée salad, dessert options). We can accommodate special dietary needs (like vegetarian, gluten-free or dairy-free). Parking is available at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts and at the Colorado Convention Center, but is not covered in the cost of the luncheon.
