Behind-the-Scenes of the Artist in Residence Program

By Leah Bobbey

Opera Colorado’s 2020-21 Season Artists in Residence began their Opera Colorado contracts on October 1, after first quarantining for two weeks in their Englewood apartments upon arriving in Colorado. These artists are living and working safely together during their eight-month residency. Their time will include both digital and in-person performances, as well as training and coaching from Opera Colorado’s artistic staff and guest artists. Find out what they have been up to in their first few weeks!

Thomas Lynch, baritone, and Stephen Variames, coach accompanist, test out the recording equipment with a soundcheck for the annual Artist in Residence Showcase, which was recorded at the Opera Colorado Opera Center and will be released digitally to our audiences this November.
